What is Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Total Hip and Knee Replacement Rehabilitation

Embarking on a major surgery, such as Total Hip or Knee Replacement, can be daunting.

Returning home just days after surgery can be both overwhelming and emotional. Having to manage pain, lack of sleep, complex medications, exercise and family members or loved ones, can be quite the challenge.

James has devised a bespoke service, combining Osteopathy and Sport Science.

The aim is to help you to deal with these challenges, manage your pain and inflammation whilst become stronger and more confident to learn how to walk again through biomechanics.

All this is delivered from the comfort of your own home, over a six week period.

James, I just wanted to say that I think you must be a wizard or a magician of some sort! The treatment you did last week on my right hip has been nothing short of miraculous!! I can go up and down stairs now with only a hint of discomfort occasionally, not pain. It’s fabulous. Thank you so much. I’ll continue with my exercises and hopefully maintain this wonderful progress. Thank you again, I feel you’ve given me my life back!

I was referred to James by someone who spoke highly of him and had seen positive results. Over the past few months, James has been treating me for painful hips, which were diagnosed with early onset osteoarthritis based on X-rays (I’m 56 years old). From the first few sessions, I noticed a significant reduction in pain. In addition, James prescribed a series of exercises for me to do at home, which I diligently followed, and I feel that they have proven to be effective. My hips feel much stronger now, and the pain has decreased substantially, sometimes even disappearing altogether and those spells are now longer im delighted to say. I consider myself a very active person, enjoying all sorts of activities, walking, swimming, gym sessions, and spin classes, and I’m pleased to say I can now continue with these activities relatively normally. Having been treated by various healthcare professionals in the past, including physiotherapists and chiropractors, and given my background in medical education, I could tell right away that James possessed exceptional knowledge and experience, particularly in addressing sports-related injuries and discomfort. I have full confidence in recommending James without hesitation. Plus, he’s just a genuinely nice person who wants to help.

I first consulted James last April. I had had lower back pain for ages. It was getting worse and affecting my daily life, slowing me down and restricting what I could do. I had been prescribed pain relief on a short term basis but it didn’t answer the problem. After our first consultation, James diagnosed a few possible reasons. We began regular treatment and advice regarding exercise and lifestyle. James supported me to contact my GP who requested blood tests, X-rays and a referral to a Rheumatologist at Addenbrookes. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, which was one of the possibilities that James had first mentioned. I was prescribed daily medication. I continue to have “maintenance treatment” with James 2/3 monthly. This has all been life-changing for me. I have got my active life back! This is thanks to James for his professionalism and care. If I hadn’t consulted him, I would have continued to decline. I heartily recommend his Osteopathy practice.
